14 April 2016 Building Update

  • Dale Montgomery is experienced with capital projects and the benefits including cost savings of a consultant monitoring construction will serve AHC well to elminate overages. Dale was contracted as a consultant for the construction project and shared services for $60,000 for a two year agreement.

  • The project is in full swing with $8.5 Million sitting in a Corporate Trust Fund in Kansas City.

  • If the new building is not completed the current facility will need to close due to being un-serviceable and out of code according to the regulations to meet the simple safety requirements that we as a nation have decided should be imposed on Medicare providers. (Reference: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Provider-Enrollment-and-certification/CertificationandComplianc/LSC.html )

  • A maintenance shed is a potential building to be erected at the site of the new hospital. The expense of this building is not included in the cost of the new hospital budgeted expenses as it would be too expensive to have a large construction company on a small job when we have local contractors that will be willing and able to erect it.

  • The actual budget for the cost of the maintenance building has not been established yet and nothing has been finalized for its completion.

  • Ground Breaking Ceremony is still pending finalized drawings; the tentative date will be in May 2016.

Building Committee

  • The next committee meeting will be April the 26th.

  • The City’s existing sanitary sewer is not large enough to accommodate the new building tie in as originally planned. The new forced main sewer will need to be extended approximately an additional 1,000 feet and a lift station will need to be utilized. The facility’s outflow will be metered as to not exceed the maximum capacity for the existing sewer system. This plan was reviewed and approved by the City.

  • Dale Montgomery worked with the committee and Hutton Construction to identify on site work development and building appearance to reduce cost in the current budget to keep the project at or below budget.Areas identified were the roads, location of the helipad, building exterior, canopies and roof drains.

  • ACI Boland’s interior designer presented the interior color schemes picked by an earlier interior design sub-committee consisting of Michelle Spare, Kim Hazen, Debbie Filson, and Dale Montgomery.
